Celebrate Hoffman Fabrics' 100-Year Anniversary With A Special Edition Of The Hoffman Challenge
You will love this contest if you enjoyed participating in the What's in the Bag Contest! The submitted artwork will use blue Batik fabric designed by Hoffman California Fabrics. Hoffman Fabrics was the first to bring the art of batik making to the retail fabric world. Founding and owning its factory in Bali, Hoffman creates over 800 batik designs yearly, hand-dying over 1 million yards per year. This is the first Hoffman Challenge to ever use Hoffman Bali Batiks as the fabrics, celebrating being the first and finest in batiks.
Love for the ocean led second-generation owners to Bali. For the first time ever, Hoffman Challenge participants are required to use a minimum of 5 out of 15 batiks from the Challenge collection in their artwork entry. As a challenge participant, test your creative skills!
Why blue? Hoffman has a long, family history revolving around water. It is the center of all they do. The color blue represents the Hoffman Family and the various waves their family has ridden.
For every 5 yards of the contest batik you purchase, you will receive a Hoffman bag, while they last, and your name will be entered into a drawing for the book Woolens to Waves, an inspirational American business story that spans generations, continents, and an ocean; what seemed improbable-free-spirited surfers building a fabric company.
As a quilt store owner, I am proud to represent a company that over 20 years ago, established a water reclamation facility at their Batik factory in Bali. We are proud that they are returning clean and pH-balanced water back to the environment.
