Thread Art With Nancy Rayner, Landscape/Collage Quilting

Nancy's thread art technique uses a variety of fabrics and threads to create your own art project: Animals, the beach a forest. You will use fabric manipulation techniques and thread painting to create a unique project.
Join Nancy on Thursday afternoon as she shares the materials you can use for class on Saturday and Sunday. You will be amazed at the choices you have! Fabrics to consider include cotton, rayon, silk, linen, lace, and more. The more variety of threads you use, the livelier your art project will be. Let your imagination run wild with yarn, fabric snippets, and frayed pieces. Experiment with merging and layering fabrics to create a stunning landscape effect. She will also discuss the different sizes of needles that work best with these materials.
If you wish you can use a whole cloth or pieced background. Nancy will show you how to make trees, bushes, fence posts, clouds, grasses, mountains, and sky, to enhance your experience.
Lastly, Nancy will walk you through finishing and quilting possibilities.

Beginning Quilt Class - Limited Seats Left
Thursdays, September 28 - November 16, 11am - 2pm

This is a beginner class. In just eight three-hour classes, you will successfully finish your first quilt. In class, you will learn to machine piece, master half square triangles, apply borders and binding, and quilting techniques. Participants will each receive a handbook with complete directions for each class. We will help you with selecting the fabric to make this quilt.

Barn Quilts Made Easy Class
Saturday, October 14, 10 am - 4:30 pm

Back by popular demand! Join us for a fun-filled day with Meg Jones creating barn quilts using paint and tape. This class is intended to be fun! Not stressful or difficult! Learn the techniques that will allow you to create beautiful wooden quilts that can be enjoyed inside or outside. In class, you will be painting on plywood that has been prepared for you. We will also provide you a choice of quilt block patterns to choose from in order to keep it simple and stress free. Choose your own colors from instructor provided paint or instructor will help you with your design. Class Supplies: Paint and plywood will be provided by instructor. You will need to bring: 8" or 12" ruler (6" square works well too), X-Acto Knife with new blade, hair dryer or heat gun, foam brushes 1" and 2" (several of each), and artist paint brushes in multiple sizes (can be used continuously after cleaning each time). Bring lunch, snacks, drinks and a willingness to have fun! Seats are limited. If the class is in high demand, we will add additional dates. Class is $75.

Star Pop Quilt, 60" by 75"
Wednesday, October 18, 3 pm -6 pm - prep time with Sandra and Saturday, October 21, 10 am - 3 pm - Sew Along

Join Sandra Kokoruda for a fun sew-along and learn some tips and tricks on half-square triangles and more as you create this modern Star Pop quilt. PPQ will provide lunch and door prizes and Sandra will provide a trunk show. The Wednesday before the sew-along, join Sandra in the afternoon to learn tips for choosing fabric and take time to prep for Saturday's class in PPQ's classroom. Utilizing prep time, you may have a quilt top finished on Saturday!
Star Pop is a fun and modern sawtooth star quilt. Each quarter section of the star is made up of a different fabric print. The result is a patchwork background with solid stars.
Star Pop is both fat quarter friendly and layer cake friendly. If you LOVE working with 10-inch square layer cakes or haven't worked with precuts, you will enjoy this class. This is a confident beginner or Intermediate quilt pattern, or just a fun quilt to finish quickly. No inset piecing, only straight strips to cut - no angles or diamonds, perfect intersections, and beautiful points! This is a fun and easy way to make the Quiltsmart Lone Star. No special rulers are needed for this class. Just the pattern and the foundation interfacing.

Learn to Craft a Fabric Bouquet for Your Thanksgiving Table Or to Share As a Hostess Gift
Saturday, November 18, 10am - 4pm

Join Prickly Pear Quilts' What's-in-the-Bag contest winner, Meg Jones, for a fun-filled day learning to create a fabric flower bouquet. Class includes fabric, so come in and pick out your fabric before class, PPQ staff will bag your lovelies and the instructor will have it all prepped for you and ready to assemble on the day of class. It will be helpful for the instructor if your fabric is picked out by November 1, so she has time to prepare. The fabrics need to be stiffened and there are 63 pieces to cut per fat quarter and fabric!

Edge-to-Edge Quilting on Your Embroidery Machine
Saturday, December 2, 10am - 5pm

Are you using your embroidery machine to its full advantage? Join us and spend a day finishing a quilt in your embroidery hoop and see just how easy it is to finish projects on your domestic machine. The Easy-Connect Quilting files and technique allow you to use your home embroidery machine to get quilting results like you would see from a long-arm quilter. Edge-to-Edge Quilting on your embroidery machine includes instructions for the Easy-Connect Quilting technique, the embroidery files needed to stitch out ten quilting designs, and the Baby Sew Fast quilt pattern -- a project that's a great size for perfecting technique. This is a software training class so basic knowledge of your embroidery machine is encouraged. Class is $65 and includes the book and embroidery designs.
